Gainsbourgh Project

This charming spec home in Laguna Beach was a combination of contemporary design and old world craftsmanship.  A technique calling “liming” was applied to the walls in the dining and kitchen area.  Liming is generally applied on plaster walls and in order for the technique to work on the new sheetrock walls, they were skim coated with plaster.  The result, smooth walls with an old world finish.

Beautifully crafted tongue and groove doors throughout the house completed the architectural statement.  The doors however had to be disassembled on location due to a oversight by the finish carpenters.  Climate changes in Laguna lead to an expansion and contraction factor, as a result JS Custom had to re–seal all joints, re–stain and satin finish the wood surfaces…big project, great result.
